About

Author/Curator
I'm going to start off with a disclaimer here. I AM NOT A LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER, nor a doctor of any kind. I can’t diagnose mental or physical health issues, so if you take my advice or end up buying anything offered on this site through my store or affiliate links, the results are entirely your own.
Now that I've gotten that out of the way…
Hello! and welcome to this site! My name is Dana. I am a divorcee and mother of three grown men, two of which are married, and I am currently on my own at 62 years young. For more thorough background info, please go to my personal blog amidlifemindset.com. There you will find a few stories I’ve written about life and our family’s past. I believe transparency is important, so I don't hold much back. I'm not ashamed to say that some of those experiences took a mental toll. I admit this only because I believe its helpful to know where a person is coming from. It makes things more relatable.
I'm creating this resource in the surreal political climate of 2025, where I find myself struggling with thoughts I never could've imagined about everyday life and my fellow humans. The task ahead is a little selfish and could also be thought of as a kind of therapy for myself, as the mission is to find peace and anxiety relief wherever I can. I'm hoping while I'm at it, I can help others find it too. We all need to take time for our mental health, to rest and rejuvenate. We can't have clarity without first having peace.
I went through dark periods in life (like most people have), but found hope and determination through a few methods I've learned and implemented. I'm going to do my best to pass some of that information on to you here, as I believe it’s part of my purpose. We all go through varying levels of negative emotion and I’m not an expert on other people, but I am an expert in what has helped relieve some of that in me. I also believe a little empathy goes a long way in helping others to feel seen; thus, providing a better sense of connection to the world and everything in it.
Which brings us to...

Spirit
I believe the spirit realm is something we have access to now, in bits and pieces. It’s a place we can observe ourselves and the world from a higher perspective. If more people took time to tap into this way of being, we would evolve into a much more compassionate species as a whole. A way we can do this by going into deep meditation/prayer, or by practicing mindfulness for only a few seconds. This will bring us varying levels of peace.

Vibing Higher
My mission is to create "An online resource dedicated to Vibing Higher, using a senses-based approach to initiate calm and peacefulness."
I'd like to team up with others who are ready and willing to become curators of positivity as we raise the vibe in ourselves and our planet – through mindfulness, meditation, observation and focused intention. A “High Vibe Tribe” to help us all get through the coming years. I believe the evolution of humanity depends on people working from a place of peace and calm, and the easiest way I've found to get into that state is through my senses – sight, sound, smell, taste and feel. By taking the time to fully immerse ourselves into any one (or more) of these sensory attributes, we can get into a state of mindfulness and cause a break in anxious thought patterns.
Sound frequencies with headphones are what I use to go really deep - and with practice, I’ve gotten better at holding focused attention, bringing longer periods of relief. With relief comes peace and with peace, the ability to think clearly or perhaps not at all.
When I am tapped into Spirit, I become a receptor for all the great things my Creator would like to convey to me. I know with everything that is in me – I’m not alone, I am safe, and I am loved. I want others to feel that too.
Why Should You Care About My Opinion?
You'll have to decide that for yourself. I'm not here to indoctrinate. What I want you to understand, is that I genuinely care about you. I don’t want a single soul to feel the way I’ve felt for most of my life, and I mean that with my whole heart.
I SEE YOU.
The Project
This project is about attaining peace through mindfulness or intense focus via our senses. I’m going to roll out the website in phases, starting with what I already have on hand. There will be blog posts that not only discuss all things “Vibing Higher," but will feature the expressive work of others too. Some of the posts will have affiliate links for products I feel confident in, because in the process of all this, I’m also hoping to supplement my income. I’m not going to allow myself to feel guilty about that.
The video below shows an example of how to ground yourself quickly using a mindfulness technique. This is just one of many ways to raise your vibe.
Phase One: See
Yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it can also be in the mind of the beholder. That's what we want to do here. Bring in the beauty and allow it to permeate us. This can be through what we actively observe and feel in words and visuals.
I'm featuring some digital photos and videos of landscapes I’ve captured while out hiking with my phone camera. I'd like to start with these because it's what I already have. I’d usually time my hikes so I'm summiting right around sunset, therefore, most are sunset photos. I’ll also take you on a few walks and hikes with me. I’ve captured quite a few of those. Just remember, if you’re expecting a videographer/photographer with a bunch of fancy equipment, you’re not going to find that here. I’ll say it again, the photos and videos on this site were taken with my phone camera.
I’m hoping the scenes I’ve captured will bring the viewer a starting point for mindfulness and feeling of peace and maybe, just maybe, if you like a photo enough to buy a digital copy, print, print on canvas or any other number of products, I wouldn’t be opposed 😊
Once I have more time, I plan to get back into art and post some of that as well. I'm totally open to featuring the work of others if anyone is interested in collaborating.
*Light and light therapy is another topic I plan to cover.
Phase Two: Smell
Blog posts all about our sense of smell, upper respiratory health, fragrance information. Fragrance products, including my wax melts and maybe candles. All materials diligently sourced and clean. Stories about scents and the way they stimulate memory and evoke a feeling.
Phase Three: Hear
I’m not sure how I’m going to go about this yet. I’m thinking I’ll probably write posts about sound frequencies - delta, theta, alpha, beta, gamma and how they affect state of mind, induce sleep, focus, etc.… I’ll add links to my favorite sound producers and meditation guides. Maybe one day I’ll produce my own meditations with the help of my sons?
I'll discuss the sounds of nature and the peace it brings - the ocean, a babbling brook, wind in the trees, wildlife, etc...
And last but definitely not least - MUSIC!
Phase Four: Taste
Hmmm… could I produce some type of food or drink to sell? Seems complicated. Maybe I could just offer dropshipped products along with blog post about recipes, nutrition, flavors and how all these factors affect our state of mind. Including, how certain foods evoke memories and how for people like me it's part of our love language.
Phase Five: Feel
So much to write about with this. Where to begin? “Feel” doesn’t necessarily have to be initiated by “touch.” It goes much deeper. There are three other senses I haven't mentioned that have much to do with feeling, and they are - vestibular (balance), proprioceptive (movement), and interoceptive (internal). I'll get to those later down the road.
For products, I think I’ll start with textiles – comforting fluffy pajamas, blankets, robes, body pillow, weighted blankets.
Last Thoughts
I hope you can sense my genuine intent to help the world feel better a little at a time. We all need a break. If you have any questions or would like to collaborate on anything, send a message through the contact form or find me on social media. Although I still need to do more with those. I've got a Facebook page and an Instagram account, so that might be a good place to message.
Oh, and one more thing, I use AI to help gather information and I'm not ashamed to say it. I'll always note where it has been used because I believe it's ethically important. I mostly use it to gather the more technical information I don't have time to get into. I work about 60 hours per week elsewhere and if I took the time to dig into mountains of content, I'd never post anything. I'll always follow up with human perspective. Please keep in mind, I consider myself a curator of helpful information. I'm not going to have an issue using the latest tools to help me get that info published.
This concept is continuously evolving and I don't quite have it all figured out. It may be that way for awhile.
Hope to chat soon!
Dana
